The existing Canadian Pavilion at the Giardini in Venice is a problematic structure with an unclear history, designed by an Italian firm in 1958. It is much hated by the Canadian artists and architects who’ve exhibited there over the decades. 0 proposes to treat its demolition during the Venice Biennale of Architecture as a performance, serving as a primer for the construction of a new pavilion by an exemplary Canadian architect two years later. Controversially, this proposal was omitted from consideration by the Canada Council for the arts jury in 2014 and 2016.
