16.0

2006-2015 / cast glass, electrical components

16 is formed by sequentially pouring three separate layers of molten glass – in varying opacities – on a horizontal plane. Each layer responds to the indeterminate shape of the previous pour to create a uniquely layered whole. Two of these pieces are then attached and illuminated with an internal LED lamp.

Fairmont Pacific Rim – 16 Series

16.480 was commissioned as a public art piece. The installation consists of 480 glass pendants supported by a set of site-specific, tree-like minarets. These “trees” rise out of a landscape constructed of burnt wood planks and form an immersive canopy of light reaching up to 6m in height.
